With sadness and pain in my heart, I have to inform you that our Chairman of the Dockers Section, Ed Andriessen, passed away last night after an intense surgery. Ed (big Ed) was our chairman for many years. In 1991 Ed started his career as a dock worker with P&O Ferries (now P&O NSF BV), where to this day he was known for his commitment and dedication to everything and everyone. Ed quickly became an active trade unionist. He was always willing to think along, both nationally and internationally. With a sense of togetherness, Ed was always committed to others. Like no other, he put the interests of the group before his own. These characteristics made many of us feel strongly connected and involved with Ed. We are forever grateful to him for that!! Ed has amply earned his spurs in the union. The emptiness that Ed leaves behind is immense; the many memories of him make that we will not forget him. He will be sorely missed.
Kind regards
Niek Stam on behalf of FNV Havens Netherlands
